What We Do >> Life Skills Program
The Life Skills Program at My Sisters' Place (MSP) works with victims of domestic violence to develop critical life management and self-care skills, improve job prospects, promote job readiness, provide internships and job placement services, and create mentoring opportunities.
The 12-week program addresses the many practical barriers faced by abused women seeking employment, and includes training in the following areas:
- Computer skills
- Financial planning, budgeting, and personal finance
- Communication skills
- Stress management
- Resume writing
- Career exploration
- Interview techniques
- Mentor and internship opportunities
Transportation and childcare for preschool-age children are provided. At the end of the program, participants are supported in finding jobs, internships, and/or further educational opportunities.
